RPI Concrete Canoe Team 2014-2015

 

Tom Regielman

Junior

 

Tom is one of the 2015-2016 captains and is focusing on the concrete mix design.  He is a Civil Engineer with plenty of energy and excitement towards concrete canoe.  He came all the way from Danville, Ca and is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE).

 

Scott Corrad

Junior

 

Scott Corrad is 19 years old and is in the class of 2017 studying Civil Engineering.  He is working alongside Angela to analyze different canoe load cases to ensure safe transport and a successful race day.  He is from Wayne, NJ, has been a member of ASCE since 2013, and is a brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

 

Lillian Kolehmainen

Junior

 

Lillian is a civil engineering major who hails from Fresno, Ca.  We are lucky enough to have her working on the design of the canoe including the shape, mold, and reinforcement. When she is not with us, she is a Calculus 1 math mentor, a part of the RPI varsity softball team and recovering from her second ACL tear!

 

Angela Casio

Senior

 

Angela is from Wyndmor, PA and in her last year of civil engineering at RPI.  She has taken on the analysis of the canoe and when she is not determining load cases for the canoe, she is playing varsity field hockey.  She is also a active member of the Fitness-Wellness Committee and Ski Club.  On top of all her campus activities, she took on hiking mountains in Iceland.... in the winter.

 

 

Tianwei (Sophia) Wang

Junior

 

Sophia is a civil engineering major here at RPI who is working with Tom to develop a strong and lightweight concrete mix design.  She is an avid animal lover and convinced her mom to get a dog even after she went to college.  She is from Tianjin, China and is excited to get started on the canoe.

 

Michael Baird

Freshman

 

Michael is studying civil engineering and is enjoying his first semester adjusting to college life.  He has taken on the role of public relations and fundraising for the concrete canoe team and is active in many other clubs on campus.  He is the sports editor for the Polytechnic (campus newspaper), and avid outdoors man and distance runner, and is service oriented through RPI Circle K and RPI Habitat for Humanity. 

 

Mika Pieper-White

Junior

 

Mika Pieper-White is a part of the class of 2017 from California studying Civil Engineering.  She is a mentor for the 2015-2016 concrete canoe team.  She has 5 years of leadership experience between different clubs and jobs, plays for the RPI Women’s Club Soccer team and is public relations and fundraising chair for RPI Club Racquetball.  She is pursuing transportation engineering and a minor in Marketing.  She enjoys the outdoors and has ran a half marathon trail run in Santa Cruz, Ca and a 30K (18 miles) run in New York City.

 

Jacqueline Sánchez

Co-term Graduate Student

 

Jacque is in her fifth year of civil engineering at RPI and is concentrating on structural engineering.  She was captain of the concrete canoe team 3 years ago and is now a mentor for the 2015-2016 team.  She is from Panama City, Panama and enjoys traveling.  After her undergraduate graduation she traveled from one side on the country to the other visiting New York City and Yosemite, Ca.  She also traveled to France as part of the Bedford graduate program to study well known structures.
